Highly specified court facility provides interim relief to Christchurch Ministry of Justice
Design, safety and speed
When the 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Christchurch in February 2011, the primary Christchurch court facility was deemed unsafe for use, and the Ministry of Justice required an effective solution, quickly.
Purpose built, secure building
With an established reputation for providing quality temporary build solutions across Christchurch through a number of recent earthquakes in the region, the Portacom team was approached.
Portacom worked closely with the Ministry of Justice's chosen architects, Opus, and its consultants to design, manufacture, install and commission a highly specified modular courts facility.
High spec, stunning new centre with all the features required by the Ministry of Justice
Portacom delivered a full turnkey project in a matter of months, featuring high-quality finishes, a range of facilities including holding cells, courtrooms and judges' rooms, and advanced technological components such as acoustic controls and an access control system for increased security.
Overall, the Ministry of Justice was extremely pleased with the speed and quality of Portacom's solution, as well as the way in which Portacom delivered on the high level of detail and specific requirements of the project.
