Located on the West Coast of New Zealand, the town of Greymouth is home to a regional police station that is need of a major upgrade. With a traditionally built upgrade to the station taking some time to complete, Portacom were tasked with constructing a temporary station to allow staff to continue working without interruption.
Dealing with challenging site conditions and notoriously unpredictable weather, the Portacom Christchurch team developed a solution that meets the customer’s specific needs, designed to integrate into the space and create a functional, comfortable facility. The station consists of two large 10.8 x 6.0 m modular main buildings, two toilet/shower buildings and a lunchroom unit, linked together by a covered walkway and deck area facilitating safe passage between buildings.
The Portacom team oversaw the site setup from end to end, including transport across to the West Coast, crane hire, traffic management and site preparation works for the building installation. The modular nature of our buildings allowed us to develop a solution that perfectly fits into the available space next to the station, while still ensuring that officers and staff have a safe, comfortable workspace to continue their important work.
