Case Study

Supporting seasonal growth with purpose-built worker accommodation

As seasonal demand increased, two horticulture sites needed additional accommodation and supporting facilities to welcome overseas workers while maintaining a comfortable and efficient living environment.

At Plantation Road, the priority was expanding accommodation capacity ahead of the picking season. Portacom supplied two13.2m x 3.6m RSE worker accommodation buildings, creating space for an additional 18-20 workers. With a tight consenting window to work within, timely coordination was critical to ensure the buildings were delivered and ready when needed.

At Ongaonga, the focus was on supporting both current and future workforce needs. Alongside an additional 13.2m x 3.6m RSE accommodation building, Portacom designed and delivered a purpose-built laundry facility capable of accommodating 12 washing machines and eight dryers - helping future-proof the site as worker numbers continue to grow.

Working closely with TW Construction, the team coordinated deliveries and installation to ensure both projects were completed smoothly, on time, and within budget. The result is practical, high-quality accommodation and supporting facilities that enable the client to confidently prepare for each picking season while providing a better living environment for their workforce.
